Adjusting Blankenshield

The Blankenshield full jousting armour
allows the owner to adjust the tassets for equestrian or ground combat.
Here the armour is shown in pedestrian mode. The tassets have been moved
to their inward position and the brayette strapped in place. In this application
all straps and all buckles are in use.

On the backplate the culette has been
strapped in place for pedestrian use.

Here the brayette has been removed and
the tassets moved out by one strap. This orients the tassets properly
to grasp the saddle once the fauld has rotated into position against the
saddle. The tasset/fauld assembly automatically centers on the saddle
as you move holding you in place and keeping the breastplate from crashing
down onto the saddle. Which could otherwise cause injury to male riders.
|
|
In the equestrian mode there is a pair
of straps at the center and a pair of buckles at the outside that are
not used.

The culette is removed so that it does
not interfere with the back of the saddle. A Blankenshield jousting saddle
has a tall cantle that grasps the rider and fits exactly in this space.
