At this point we are only converting McClellans that the customer sends to us. However in the near future we intend to start production and maintain stock. For now the price is to be kept as low as possible to open up the market so take advantage while you can. We can work with extremely beat up saddles missing parts. All we need is a fair shape tree with intact stirrup clips and accessory slots. These can be found through most cavalry reenactment groups quite easily. The saddles they strip out for parts being suitable. If the saddle comes with iron stirrups they can be converted but if it comes with wood or no stirrups bent wood stirrups will be supplied. The McClellan is a close contact saddle which puts the rider in a very close relationship with the horse making it an ideal tree for a martial arts saddle. Actually making a hand made jousting saddle cheaper than a hand made western saddle.

 

Warning. Female riders are usually extremely uncomfortable in McClellan's. This is because the male and female hip bones are shaped differently. For female riders we suggest modern McClellan style endurance saddles.
