Blood Grooves

One of our readers Chris Riley sent a great suggestion to make grinding the blood groove easier. He uses two or three C-clamps to hold a simple piece of steel stock to the blade and uses this as a guide for his disk grinder. I imagine that you could use straight stock for straight grooves or you could bend a piece of stock for curved blades then flip it over for the opposite side.
I usually just eyeball it in. Starting with a narrow shallow groove I just widen and deepen it in lots of passes till both sides are the same.
A cute trick for fancy blades is to make two shallow grooves with a small ridge between. Then using a dremel tool remove material to leave raised designs. Use a sharpie to write runes or draw dragons on the ridge then remove the background material. Leaving raised runes or bas relief dragons.
