| I get a lot of questions about the hole that is left in
the spring. This must be filled with something called a blind rivet. To
make this stay in place the hole must be ground out slightly in an hourglass
shape. I use a dremel tool. Also the hole is slichtly elongated in a sort
of leaf shape. That prevents the rivet from spinning. Then a short section
of rod the right size is inserted in the hole slightly protruding from both
surfaces. Pound like a conventional rivet then grind flush. If the blood
groove goes through the rivet the elongated shape prevents the rivet from
shifting in the groove. Done tight this can barely be seen on close examination.
Keep the hole at least a few inches forward of the guard to avoid weakness
at that point.
