The piece is then placed on a stake made
from a blunt chisel or crowbar in a vise. (A special hardy tool can also
be forged.) The edge is pounded over the stake so as to form a gutter
along the edge the piece.

The piece is then once again placed against
the anvil with the edge being rolled uppermost and the gutter with its
concave side facing away from the anvil. The upstanding edge is then struck
down lightly taking great care not to flatten the fold. At this stage
the flow of the metal will eliminate the boxy corners and the edge will
appear smoothly rounded.
